If you live in our area, we would be happy to discuss with you by phone what is normal for a child your age, what are warning signs about their emotional future, and whether there are services your child might benefit from.  It is very important that you feel comfortable with whoever may work with your child, and the free consultation gives you the opportunity to "check us out" without any obligation or cost.   You may find that therapy is more affordable than you thought and that you and your child can be helped.  Even if you don't think therapy is what you need, we're happy to talk to parents briefly and help them find resources or learn what is developmental normal for children.

How long is free phone consultation?

Usually they last up to 15 minutes, but we are not "clock watchers" and may talk longer if we have the time available.

What times are free consultations scheduled?

Usually clients just call our office and leave a message with our secretary and we call you back that same day whenever we have a break between clients.  However, if you need to schedule a particular time, let the secretary know what time you are available and we may be able to accommodate you. 

What should I expect from a free consultation?

A consultation is not counseling and should not be expected to fully solve a problem.  What you can expect is to share some information about what you are worried about, to find out whether this is in issue that is right for therapy or something  you may not really need to keep worrying about, and to find out whether we have the services that would be a good fit for your needs.   Don't hesitate to ask us anything about our training, our philosophy, or our personal beliefs that might affect whether we are the right therapist for you or your child.
